Let’s take a look at the last 3 episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network.

Episode 8 was the Jar Jar/ C3-PO episode.  I don’t know why Lucas insists on involving the worst character of the series again and again, but what can you do?  Throwing C3-PO into the episode was just the rotten cherry on top of the sludge sundae.

Yes C3-PO can be funny, but only when R2-D2 is verbally bitch slapping him.

First off the “duel of the droids” is about 30 seconds of this episode.  The LAST 30 seconds.  We will address that later though. (more…)

Episode 6 of the new series start with the usual:  Jedi/Republic forces are on the run, and General Grievous blows it and has to flee.

The twist is that Anakin gets his ride blown out from under him, and clone trooper Rex has to save his bacon.  Unfortunately, R2-D2 is NOT rescued, and drifts off int the scattered debris of the wrecked droid fleet. (more…)

You may say that just 5 episodes into a series is way too early to execute a recap of the story line so far, and you would be right, but hey, Cartoon Network put the darn show on a haitus for Halloween week so we at  Legion HQs have little to do but scratch our heads and wonder what is to come based on what has come before. So far we have had battles between Jedi and battle droids, huge interstellar fleets getting wiped out, daring raids against heavy odds on massive battle cruisers, and last minute rescues of damsels in distress (I hope Padme doesn’t read this and whoop my butt!).  So you can understand the frustration of the rookie clone soldiers assigned to a base on a quiet, small, little known rock of a planet in the outer rim. I will freely admit I haven’t been a fan of Shirley Manson’s performance in this series since she joined at the beginning of the second season. I found her posing and sneering to be one-dimensional and repetitive. But in this episode, she showed vulnerability, doubt and, in one scene, mirth. It opened up her character immensely. (more…)

Well when you have the biggest Separatist war ship on the run, what do you do?  Go to Disneyland?  Have a beer?  Kick Jar-Jar around for a while?  No.  You let your one true love (and major political figure for the Republic) get tractor beamed on board the ship you are trying to eliminate from the galaxy.  That is the basic story line for the latest episode of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The title says it all… after you see the episode and realize that the giant, ion cannon toting Separatist battle cruiser is named “Malevolence” and after Anakinstarts refering to his bomber squadron as “Shadow Squadron”.  Personally i think “Griefing Grievous” would have been a better title, but that is just me. “The Same Old [X-Files] Story” would be more like it. News flash for the FOX team, it’s ok to sell “Fringe” as an “X-Files” show. We like “X-Files.” Well, the first few seasons.
