Rolando for iPhone - Teaser trailer from handcircus on Vimeo.

Being fans of both the delightfully quirky LocoRoco and of the iconic Apple mobile, the trailer for the upcoming similarly-styled Rolando for iPhone looks intriguing indeed. Calling it a “physics-based platform/puzzler,” developer Simon Oliver says he hopes to have the title available at the App Store by August for about $9.99.

Yesterday we drooled over the announcement of the next generation iPhone, but despite its generous bells and whistles, there is one thing we haven’t seen it do: make popcorn. Apparently, the latest craze sweeping the globe is to use your cell phone to make corn kernals pop and men leery of leaving their cels in the front pockets. Since this is unofficial multilingual day here at Legion of Geek, you can also see videos of this in both Japanese and English as well.

Along with today’s announcement of a sale date for the 3G iPhone comes a new commercial touting the new phone’s well, shinyness. Other Apple goodness today includes talk of the new version of OS X, Snow Leopard, the .mac replacement, mobileme and the countries that will finally getting iPhone access on July 11th. It’s a good day to be a Mac lover.

We try not to be slobbering fanboys when it comes to gadgets, but we just can’t help ourselves with the announcement of the new 3G iPhone. Not only is it faster, slimmer and packed with more functions (GPS ftw), but it’s cheaper, too, coming in at $199 for the 8gb model.

And it plays games! Oh does it play the games. Mostly with our souls. These bad boys will be available on July 11th, coincidentally when we’ll be shutting down the site to stand in line at the local Apple store.

More details can be found on Engadget’s liveblog post of the announcement.

This one’s for the gadget geeks in the house (reprazent!): Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference kicks off tomorrow at San Francisco’s Moscone Center, where intrepid leader Steve Jobs is expected to announce the new 3G iPhone during his Monday keynote. Our friends at Engadget will be covering the event live, so be sure to tune in for the up-to-the-second news of the unveiling. TUAW has some further predictions about what else we might see come out of WWDC 2008, whilst the internetz wonder whether Twitter will survive the event.

[UPDATE]: Check out the new 3G iPhone specs and the other announcements from Steve’s keynote today at WWDC.
