If you own an Xbox 360 and haven’t yet checked out the excellent Xbox Live Marketplace title Braid — run, don’t walk, to check it out. This dreamy, inventive platformer requires you to bend time and wrap your mind around some challenging puzzles, all to the accompaniment of a great original soundtrack and unique visual style.

If you’re a fan of the game already, check out David Hellman’s Braid Graphics Briefcase which compiles a number of original Braid graphics into a few handy zip files including icons, a city panorama, wallpapers and more.

The excellent GiantBomb’s Brad Shoemaker has a great video review of the recently-released sequel to Viva Piñata, a bright and colorful real-time simulation gardening game (yes, that’s right, RTS gardening FTW!) from Rare Studios for the Xbox 360. Our favorite money quote:

“It’s okay to like piñatas.”

PAX 2008, aka the Penny Arcade Expo, just wrapped up in Seattle over Labor Day Weekend. Among the fascinating, yet disturbing cosplay, the sex and violence in videogames panel and, oh yeah, the computer games, there was a little performance by Jonathan Coulton. He sang his ode to geekdom, “Still Alive” (you may remember it in the credits of “Portal”) and was joined this time by none other than ascending geek goddess, Felicia Day. Just watch the video so I can stop jamming geek into every other sentence.

Rolando for iPhone - Teaser trailer from handcircus on Vimeo.

Being fans of both the delightfully quirky LocoRoco and of the iconic Apple mobile, the trailer for the upcoming similarly-styled Rolando for iPhone looks intriguing indeed. Calling it a “physics-based platform/puzzler,” developer Simon Oliver says he hopes to have the title available at the App Store by August for about $9.99.
